”Welcome to the Science of Self”

Jahson The Scientist is a “wordsman” who sees no limit to his form of expression and has
been described as a Spoken Word Artist, MC and anything in-between. Raised in both
London and Montserrat (Caribbean), The Caribbean introduced him to freestyling and writing
rhymes and London deepened his connection to music by crate digging for vinyl, becoming a
DJ and being part of MC and DJ collectives.
A live performer who lives every moment onstage, The Scientist is known for his ability to
create songs in the moment and an inspired use of word-play. Today as lyricist he uses no
standard formula or single genre of music, centred in Hip Hop other sounds likeAfro-beat,
Jazz and Soulful sounds are very present. Audiences from London to Den Hague, Marseille
to Taiwan have witnessed his performances which combine live instrumentation with
samples/beats or just the naked word. The Scientist often gives the listener a view through
the keyhole on “black” matters, the riddle of Adam from atoms, culture, science and spirit.
Since first hitting the stage with his own band at school, he has performed at Festivals like
Bevridigungsfestival, DonauInselfest, Popfest, Impulstanz, Soundframe, Waves. Other
performances include FM4‘s Session alongside The Ruff Pack and support for The Roots,
Inner Circle and GZA(Wu Tang Clan) amongst others. He has also played with artists such
as Oroh Angiama (MD for Corinne Bailey Rae), SK Invitational (16 piece Hip Hop/Jazz Big
Band) and Daru Jones (Jack White, Slum Village).
Jahson has been called Star of The Week for his No Doubt EP and his Scattah Brain trio
was rounded up in the Best of 2016. His first release was with Psychic Phenomena on their
Slipstream EP, which won 2 UK Hip Hop Awards, and more recently on FM4‘s Tribe Vibes
Exclusives Album (Sony Music Austria), SK Invitational’s Golden Crown (Kopfhörer/Groove
Attack) and appears on Yasmo’s Amadeus Nominated Album “Kein Platz Für Zweifel” on
Wer hat Angst vorm weißen Mann?
